Today I had a baby shower thrown for Paul & I by some co-workers, it was so much fun! We didn't play any embarrassing games, the food was delicious, and the conversation was great :) I got a few things off of my registries - and a few things not on my registry so a good mixture.
I got a lot of gift cards - which is PERFECT - and it'll be fun to use them as I love to shop :) I also got this adorable keepsake kit, a lot of clothes with matching accessories, & a handmade afghan which is SO soft! From our registry we got the crib aquarium, the co-sleeper, & our baby monitor.
Everyone was so sweet, my co-workers really amaze me with all their kindness <3

I started my 32nd week last Thursday - just eight more weeks to go. By the time I see my doctor next, I'll only have SIX more weeks to go. The time is just flying by. At our Bradley Class last night we practiced some pain management positions that would be helpful. In order to simulate the pain, we were given large ice cubes that we held in our hand for the duration of an actual labor contraction. Though I know ice is really nothing in comparison to true labor pains, it was an interesting experience because it was dealing with a discomfort with pain management all the same. I found that I was most comfortable when I wasn't sitting. We tried standing & facing each other, standing while leaning over a counter, and then kneeling on the floor while facing & leaning over a chair. We also tried one where I sat down in a chair and Paul knelt in front of me - but sitting just wasn't comfortable - it put a lot of pressure on my stomach and made me feel squished. When we went to our 6th prenatal appointment on the 12th of this month - we went ahead and made all of the necessary appointments until my due date - all remaining five of them. So I've put those on the calendar if anyone is interested. I kept them all on Thursdays and all at the same time so its easy to remember. Well, I had my doctor's appointment today. It wasn't a great visit, I really feel like it was just a smash-and-grab affair - smash the heart monitor on my belly, grab my vitals and run. To his defense though, he did have a woman delivering and he could have chosen not to see me at all because of it. On a side note, I got to see a placenta at our Bradley Class on Tuesday. It was a bit horrific and I've decided that I'm not one of those mothers who want to see/keep it afterward just as I'm not one that wants to feel the baby's head as it's pushing through. I thought to publish mine here :) I'll post after tomorrow's appointment as to what was given the kabash and what wasn't. I'm sure some is really out of my hands because they are "hospital policy" - but I'm still going to fight for it. Well, I got a call back from my doctor's office and, magically, they had a cancellation and could squeeze me in. When? February 12th. Yes, the same day they cancelled my original appointment. My 6th prenatal appointment, which was originally scheduled for February 12th has been cancelled. Apparently my doctor has a lot of surgeries he needs to take care of on that date. Scares me a bit, are all these "surgeries" c-sections? Gosh I hope not. I really don't want a c-section happy doctor and I'm stuck with the guy. We finally finished constructing the crib last night! It was pretty hard to get together, mainly because the illustrations were terrible and when it comes to furniture that's actually really important. I'm going to leave my two cents about that issue on the Wal-Mart website. I'm going to try and get the bedding washed tonight, though because we have our Bradley class I probably wont be able to get it on the mattress. No matter really because I'll have to strip everything off once I get the fitted mattress pads that I registered for. |
