Yesterday was Evy's 2nd doctor's appointment, this week she started her 12th week.
She's 12 pounds & 13 ounces and approximately 24.5 inches long. That means she's gained a little over 4 pounds since birth, awesome! Breast fed babies are supposed to recover their birth weight within the first 2 weeks, which she did and then gain an ounce a week for the next three months (I think, gotta confirm about the three months). Anyhow, she's doing wonderfully and that's all that matters.
The doctor, a new fellow named Dr. Pumphrey, seemed really nice. My only disappointment was that I tried talking to him about my thoughts on vaccinations, which is that I wasn't sure I wanted to follow the traditional schedule, and he basically spent the office visit teaching me about what vaccinations are and why they are good. I felt it a bit condescending because I'm not stupid - I know what they are and what they're supposed to do. Just because I don't want to vaccinate my child against diarrhea doesn't mean I'm stupid. It means that its diarrhea, something all kids will get eventually, is not life threatening if its given the proper attention and there's no reason to pump Evy full of stuff that MIGHT prevent it. But whatever, he said he'd support whatever vaccination schedule we'd like to follow and that's the important thing.
