Recently it feels like all my posts have been about breastfeeding - and I feel like a broken record saying, "Its broken!" and then a day later "Its fixed!" and then "It's broken again!" and "Its fixed again!".
Well, the record still spins - because I want to say it's fixed again :) After calling the Loving Support Breastfeeding hotline & my doctor's office - I was pretty beat down. But, I was determined to just keep working at it and I kept waking Evy up and tried not to stress about it. Thursday night I had an epiphany and I went hunting through my breastfeeding book and found my suspicions correct: menstruation can effect milk supply. Friday I started menstruating and yesterday morning I pumped 4 ounces from one breast alone. This morning at 5:30am I was able to express 3 ounces from the breast that Evy did not nurse from and at 8:30am I expressed another 3 ounces from each breast - IT'S FIXED!
I'm so relieved! I'm going to continue to take the fenugreek herb for awhile, but in the meantime I think we're going to be okay. Plus, I misunderstood my sister when she told me Evy was going through 12 ounces a day, she's still only consuming 8 ounces so I'll be able to build my milk stash up until she goes through another growth spurt.
